If you're video isn't working, try the following methods:

1. Check Zoom Webcam Settings

Click the ^ next to the video icon

Ensure you have the right camera selected:

You can also check further settings by clicking the "Video Settings" button at the bottom.

1. Check For Other Software Using The Webcam

Check you're don't have another piece of software or webpage isn't using the webcam. Only 1 program can use your webcam at once.

It will usually show a message like this:

And the camera will appear grey in video settings

Be especially careful if you've just recorded a flipgrid video for 1on1 feedback or for Content work. Make sure you finish publishing the flipgrid video before turning on your camera.

2. Unplug Webcam and Plug Back In

Close zoom (and let Oncall know if you're currently in class). Then unplug and plug your mic back in. When done relaunch Zoom.

3. Use Webcam manufacturers software to test whether it's working

Most USB webcams come with software. Find that software, open it and check the settings within.

4. Reset Webcam

Type "Device Manager" in Start or into the Windows Search Box. Launch Device Manager:

You can also access it through the control panel and selecting "Hardware And Sound"

Then select "Device Manager"

Find your webcam, it's usually under "Imaging Devices"

Right click on it and select "disable". Then right click and select "enable". You can also use this menu to update your webcam's drivers.

After you're done, relaunch Zoom and try again.

5. Try Another Webcam

If you're lucky enough to have a spare webcam, give that a go. If the spare works, the problem is likely with the webcam itself.
