Making a Teacher Profile Page

This page is about making a teacher profile for this page - https://zenglish.jp/our-teachers/ - mainly useful because students can get to know the teachers, and find out who they'd like to take 1on1s with.

First up, ask the new teacher to:

  • write a short bio
  • write a paragraph about their interests
  • send you a photo of them (ideally looking professional but approachable)

I recommend sending a teacher a link to other staff profiles so they know what kind of thing we expect.


In the back-end, go to the ‘Teachers’ category and choose ‘Add New Teacher’. This is just used for making a teacher page so students can learn about the teacher.


Ignore the first large text-box on the page. Scroll down to ‘More Fields’, and add the Teacher’s name, Teacher’s bio and Teacher’s interests.

The photo should be square. The teacher manager edits the photo, cropping it to a square and adding the flag of the teacher's country of origin in the bottom-right corner (in a way which matches the others)

The files for the teacher photo and video need to be added manually (not just uploaded to the backend page, or linked to). The only way to get the video and picture to show up properly is to put them in a particular folder with a particular name.

The files need to go in the teacher-intro-files folder on the Zen01 server. You can access this through the File Manager at the top of the ZE site's backend, or you can get there through FileZilla.


The picture needs to be NAME.png and the video needs to be NAME-introduction.mp4 - these are the only namings the site will recognise. For example, Juanita.png and Juanita-introduction.mp4 would work, but Juanita.jpg and Juanita-intro.mp4 probably wouldn't.


Preview the page to see if it all looks right. Publish it, and it will be visible on the website.
